More Camp info

Please start saving aluminum cans! Girls should bring cans in bags of 20 with them to Day Camp (Camp Shiwaka) on Mon, Tues and Wed. The group that brings in the most cans that week will be recognized at the ceremonial on Thursday night.

Also, as of this morning, there are only 5 spots left for Camp Wintaka (overnight camp) for 6th grade girls. So, if your daughter wants to go, I would suggest getting your deposit in to the Camp Fire office as soon as possible.

Spring Campout Pics

Spring Campout 2008 was alot of fun! Thanks to the families who joined our adventure! Although it was HOT, a breeze quickly cooled the campground and we enjoyed a cool evening. We ate fried chicken, veggies, chips and had handmade S'mores for dessert. Shi Wa Yu Ma lowered the flag at the flag ceremonial and sang "Say When" at the camp fire. Then the girls got to participate in serenading the rest of camp when the lights are out. We enjoyed a yummy Pancake Breakfast cooked by the Long Beach Firefighters.. Looking forward to next year...

A New Level

Congratulations to Shi Wa Yu Ma!

We are now in the Discovery Level of Camp Fire. The Grand Council Fire was inspirational and moving! Eleven young people earned their Wohelo award last night. Ultimately, we would like to see each one of our girls earn that same honor.

Several families asked about what should go on the collars. After some thought, I came up with these guidleines.

1) Please remove the group emblem (brown, green and red with eagle) from the vest and place on the back of the collar. (Same placement that was on the vest)

2) Consider putting only traditional Camp Fire elements on the collar. i.e. emblems that are symbolic and Camp Fire beads. You may put event items on the collar but as I observed last night, most of the event emblems are saved for the ceremonial gown.

3) Ultimately, the girls will be sewing their own designs and embellishments on their uniforms so I would suggest letting your daughter decide where and what recognition items she would like on her collar.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Stephanie or Charlene.

More information will be discussed at tonight regular meeting. We will be collecting the money for the Pancake Breakfast tickets as well as distributing the Spring Campout packing list.
