Dad/Daughter Dance, Apr. 5

Head on over to the Dad/Daughter Dance at the Camp Fire Council this Saturday, April 5th. It will be from 7 - 8:30 pm. This event is only open to Adventure level Camp Fire members! The theme is "50's Rock 'n Roll" Be there or be square!

Pics from Earth Walk field trip

Shi Wa Yu Ma members had fun at the Earth Walk event at Monte Verde Park. We learned A LOT about recycling, the environment and saw some cool animals. We made some crafts and got lots of goodies made from recycled materials. We finished our field trip with a walk along the newly built San Gabriel River nature trail.

Field Trip, Sat Mar. 29th

Shi Wa Yu Ma members will attend the Earth Walk event on Sat Mar 29 being held at Monte Verde Park in Lakewood.

* Meet at the Lichlyter's home by 9:30 am
* Bring a sack lunch
* Dress in Camp Fire uniform (white polo, blue vest)or any Camp Fire t-shirt
* Wear comfortable walking shoes
* Pick up will be back at Lichlyter's home by 1 pm

Parents are welcome to attend!!

Flag Salute, Tues. March 18th

Please meet at 6:45 pm in front of the school office. This way everyone will be together before the meeting and salute starts. Shi Wa Yu Ma members must be in clean, complete uniform:

* White Camp Fire USA polo
* Blue vest (please attach all beads and patches beforehand)
* Navy blue bottoms (pants, shorts or skirt)
* Hair should be neat, brushed or combed, preferably pulled away from face
* Face and hands should be clean

Parents, please remain during flag salute to return children home promptly after salute is done.

Collar Workshop #1, Mar 13

As we progress into the next level of the Camp Fire program, Discovery Level, we start preparing for the higher levels of the program - the Horizon Club and Wohelo Award. The first step in this journey is the making of the collars that will eventually be sewn onto the gowns that are the Horizon Club and Wohelo ceremonial dress. The collar is the offical ceremonial uniform for Discovery level members. A Camp Fire collar specialist will help each girl plan and make her collar. This is accomplished in 2 workshops.

The first workshop (March 13th) will include planning and preparing a pattern for the collar. Each girl will leave the workshop having made a pattern and placed an order for the leather to make the collar. A second workshop will be scheduled at the tanner's shop. The tanner has been assisting Camp Fire girls for many years. Each girl will receive help to make their collar using leather they have pre-ordered. Parents are asked to accompany their daughters to BOTH workshops.

The leather to make the collar costs $45. A $20 deposit, payable at the first workshop, is necessary to pre-order the leather. The balance of the cost ($25) will be due at the second workshop. The collars will be presented to the girls by their parent at the Grand Council Fire in early May.

This is an exciting time as we transition and get ready for the Discovery (middle school) years of Camp Fire. Remember, as a member of Shi Wa Yu Ma, even if the girls go to different middle schools, they may continue in Camp Fire.
