Landscaping Work Party, Jan 12th

You may have noticed the attractive new landscaping taking shape at the Long Beach Camp Fire Council Office. Marci, a Camp Fire Leader, has taken on a project to create a more attractive and sustainable landscape palate for the front lawn of the Council. With grant funding provided by the City of Long Beach Water Department the project continues to move forward. This Saturday is the next work party and all Camp Fire families are invited to attend, especially moms and dads, with gloves in hand. The work will go from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Jan. 12th. Kids are welcome if they are old enough to help.

Attending this event will count as a make-up lesson for those who need to make up one for Trail to the Environment. Every member that attends will earn a brown bead!

Meeting & Candy Kick-Off party, Jan 14th and 17th

If you have not done so, please sign up for an item to bring to the potluck dinner for Jan 17th (salad, plates, etc.) The list will be available at the next regular meeting, Mon. Jan 14th. Parents should attend both the Jan 14th meeting and the dinner Jan. 17th. The Jan 14 meeting is to discuss the 2nd half of our Camp Fire year. We will be giving progress reports as to how much your daughter has completed toward the Fire Maker (5th grade) award and what still needs to be completed. Also, there will be a sign up sheet for group sales times to sell candy in front of stores. Please see Betty Gomez (Alex's mom) or Jen Bourgeois (Gabi's mom) for details.

The pizza party is Thursday, Jan 17th from 6 - 7:30 pm at Grace First Presbyterian Church on Studebaker. At least one parent must attend this event with their child. Parent and child training will be conducted, including safe selling techniques. There will also be a question and answer period so this is the perfect time to learn what Candy Sale is all about!

Our goal is for each girl to sell 125 units of candy. This is a goal that our group can reach if all families work together and support their daughter's efforts during this time. The girls will learn important skills such as money management, goal-setting, teamwork, responsibility and addressing the public.
